AVIF is an innovative online UK charity, with a promise to Invest in our Volunteers. We work on a shoestring, devoted to sustainable development & bridging the technological divide within rural Kenya.

The Summer Volunteer Programme targets vulnerable children, especially females, and their communities, serving as an :

• Awareness-raising & inspiring experience for both volunteer & host
• Introduction for child sponsorship
• Verification exercise for true needs, and therefore
• Introduction to sustained assistance for projects AVIF assist with online volunteering as well as on-site.

 

Abstract: International teachers volunteer their time, pay their own costs and fundraise to help donate materials for their classes. Teaching English is only one aspect of our work. Volunteers are fully immersed into the community, mentoring children and teaching self-respect and subjects we take for granted. Activities include giving art classes, helping to build housing, setting up IT hardware donations, giving simple HIV/AIDS advice, playing games and football, building up team-work initiatives, teaching basic IT and sharing music and dancing skills.

With the help of refurbished-computer sources and with offers from major airlines to fly units to Nairobi (foc) AVIF aims to allow these communities to benefit from the vast resources of the internet. Our Wishlist also includes GPS internet access and solar power.

You will be working on projects that sustainably develop entire communities' lives, helping to nurture disadvantaged children's educations. You'll be building your own future, not just theirs.

 Background: AVIF was established in March 2006 and has been exempted from registered-charity status. We are registered with the UK’s HMRC to offer GiftAid to UK tax paying donors. AVIF is administrated entirely online, at very low cost.
